Novavax says Coronavirus vaccine 90 percent effective, including for variants.

Novavax Inc reported late-stage data from its U.S. based clinical trial showing its vaccine is more than 90% effective against COVID-19 across a variety of variants of the virus.its coronavirus vaccine has an overall efficacy of 90.4% and was "generally well-tolerated" in a Phase 3 trial in the US and Mexico 

In the US and Mexico trial of Novavax vaccine where 50% were Alfa variant, it shows an overall efficacy of 90.4% and 100% efficacy against moderate or severe disease, on par with the vaccines made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna 

Novavax Chief Executive Stanley Erck said the vaccine is likely to become available first in low- to middle-income countries outside the U.S. through the international Covax initiative, possibly by the end of September
